We are happy to inform you that the 7th ACES International Workshop will be held at Otaru Grand Park Hotel, Hokkaido, Japan from October 3 to October 8, 2010. Otaru is is a pretty city located 40km northwest of Sapporo. It takes about 1 hour from the New Chitose airport by a rapid airport train.

The APEC Cooperation for Earthquake Simulation (ACES) is a multi-lateral grand challenge science research cooperation of APEC (the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation). The Workshop will consist of eight plenary scientific sessions:

Session 1: Microscopic simulation
Session 2: Scaling physics
Session 3: Macro-scale simulation: Earthquake generation and cycles
Session 4: Macro-scale simulation: Dynamic rupture and wave propagation
Session 5: Computational environment and algorithms
Session 6: Data assimilation and understanding
Session 7: Model applications
Session 8: Other geoscience simulation

Every participant is encouraged to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation. Full peer-reviewed papers will be published as a special volume after the Workshop.
